So you’re from Bearsden. The Wife (tm) is from Kilbarchan.

Och, ye'll have had your tea.

In a similar "Scotch" vein, this evening's first feature was "The Ghost Goes West (1935)" with Robert Donat, Elsa "Bride of Frankenstein" Lanchster, and Jean Parker.

The Ghost Goes West (1935) - IMDb

They seemed very fond of terming everything "Scotch" including the Highlanders.

    I rather enjoyed it.

The proposed second feature is "Born to Win (1971)" which is alleged to have Robert De Niro in it but he hasn't shown up yet.

Born to Win (1971) - IMDb

He still hasn't shown up, nor has Hector Elizondo who is also alleged to be in this epic.

It's the barest of bare bones dvds.

    Hector just showed.

He's not A Good Guy (got a black hat).

It's a loooong time since I heard the term "schwartzer".

A very very young Bob De Niro just turned up.

This is a remarkably crap film.

And so saying the dvd starts skipping.

    Anyone remember George Segal?

    No?

    Me neither.

Nor any films he's appeared in.

    Oh.

    He was in

The Bridge at Remagen (1969) - IMDb

which I watched a couple of months ago.

    Obviously made an impression.

Ah yes, I remember Ben Gazzara in it, rather than him.

    He's a bagman.

This isn't going to end well.

According to imdb it doesn't actually have an end.

Feck me, that wallpaper is hideous.

Our hero looked quite fetching in a pink furry nightie thing.

Now we're off on a road trip having been double crossed on some deal or other.

    Now they're on a beach.

    In the winter.

    Watching the waves.

Well it's more interesting than the film.

In the real world it's raining.

Which is going to put a bit of a spoke in my gardening.

    Bob's just reappeared again.

    13 minutes left. :suicide

    Bob's back again.

    And Hector.

It's not going so well for George.

It's gone even worse for his mate who's just had a bad batch of tulipe.

The pigs just fitted up his girlfriend.

Hector gave him what may or may not be a hotshot.

And that was more or less it.

    Roll credits.

    Fade to black.

The Joys of life on the streets of New York as a junkie in 1972.

    Lovely.

De Niro was in it for about 5 minutes.

Back to the Nordic TV for this evening's viewing, starting with a further episode of Ófærð, being S1E8. And after that - and after a long hiatus - back to Borgen as I still haven't finished the third season, so it was Faldet, being S3E7.

    Goodnight all

Sunday I cut myself chopping vegetables. It was getting better. Banged my thumb this morning and claret everywhere. I even got some on my shirt. I am well hacked off.

Dangerous those vegetables. I should stick to meat and junk food. I can't be blamed for being an idiot, no way.....
