Tea tonight has been chicken jalfrezi out of the freezer, with the usual rice and naan, and was very nice indeed

Does it still form a nicely charred skin in the microwave, like it does in the oven? I would guess not. I haven't had rice pudding in many years, but when I was a kid my Mum made it a lot and we used to like the burnt skin

I tried making normal rice in the microwave once, but as far as I recall it turned into a right faff and I wasn't happy with the results. As I'd managed to work out how to make it just fine (for my tastes, anyway) in a saucepan by then, I've stuck to that since
Nope, skinless but very sweet, mostly due to the amount of sugar I put in it, though it was much less than ever got put in the ground version, though that was rather more generous in the proportion of rice.

Never liked the skin much since Strangelove Mater liked it that wasn't a problem.

For other kinds of rice I used the microwave packet stuff.

For added excitement I sometimes don't make a hole in the packet.

It's as far away from fun as you can get.

I still can't understand how I managed with the two of them back then.

Morning all if all there be

    Dry.

    No current precipitation.*

White sky with tiny hints of blue.

Was wanly sunny a minute ago.

Cooler again at 16.2 deg C in here.

At this rate I'll have to locate the fan heater shortly.

    <hiatus>

    * That was then, it's pissing down again now.

In other news, only 3 eps of S2 of "Jeremiah" to go.

To be frank they could have killed it after the first two eps of S2 by incorporating them into S1, the rest of S2 being a bit meh.

    Morning all
CBS but chilly in the Surrey Hills.
Full complement of chickens and remaining guineas. The new wire fencing appears to have worked, but I’ll inspect it fully later, along with checking and reinforcing the outside dig skirts.

Off to Epsom later to get my stitches out.

Dry cycle last night. Except for burst water main at Lewisham. Nice being on the bike laughing at the car drivers in a mile queue of traffic. Easily worth a slightly soggy shoe.
