Just ordered a portable air con unit from Amazon. Every year we say we should do it and by the time we decide to bite the bullet and spend the money the weather breaks and cools down again, so this time it's done.

As the temp in the shade soars through 30C, I've just cracked a funny on Twitter. (well, in my opinion)

I see we have a kunt as prospective PM.

But then we'd have had a kunt either way.

CBS outside, which is why I'm sat in here with the curtains closed in an attempt to keep the coolth in.

Lunch was Heinz(tm) baked beans on a remarkably stale crust of Morrisons pumpkin seeded toast.

It usually goes a bit blue before drying out like this loaf has.

            Puzzling.

Still reading "Blood Tears and Folly".

We have almost reached The Great Victory that was Dunkirk.

It amazes me that we're not all speaking German.

Though one of the quotes from 1940 about a single currency sort of made me larf a bit.

The coolth got out of here ages ago. Up to 26°C in the living room, and no sign of stopping there

If it gets as bad as that I'll have to drag the aircon up from the garage.

Assuming I could get it out of course.

We've now got a "severe weather warning" of thunderstorms tonight, but only about a 50-60% chance

27 in the living room here, 30 in my office. No sign of it getting cooler any time soon.

Dog is crashed out, too hot to move. I'd take her to the river to cool off but it's too hot to walk down there.

Currently 23 deg C in the living room.

Rather colder upstairs where that clock thing reckons it's almost 59 deg F.

                      I think it's borked.

Trying to understand quite why I have so many multi i/o cards (ISA and PCI, and a strange VESA one), not to mention the multiplicity of ISA and PCI ethernet cards, one of which allegedly supports 3.11.

Oh, and a cardbus PCMCIA to ethernet and a PCMCIA to SCSI II card.

                      Very odd.

Stuff that "might come in useful" which really hasn't.
