trying to stay upbeat, but this forum isn't helping any more, what with the sheer volume of negativity polluting every thread, including tpd.
as if there wasn't enough outside and on the news.
          meh.

          feck it.
You're not wrong there, spirits are certainly dipping. Even the simple pleasures in life such as going for a tulip on works time have lost their appeal now i've to pay for the bloody bog roll.

Tonight’s tea has been a roast pork loin joint, with the usual trimmings. Absolutely lovely, it was

                Evening mofos.

Entertainment: "The Bruce Partington Papers", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "War" on PBS, list last not including Sherlock Holmes or Dr. Watson, rather being the 13th ep of 14 about WWII, 1945, spring.

Discoverd how inefficient gas lighting is:

Can the aura of gaslight survive in the LED age? - Lux Review

                2 lumens/watt.

And that's for a gas mantle.

The fishtail burner was presumably even less efficient.

                According to this

                https://getd.libs.uga.edu/pdfs/ghosh...200405_mhp.pdf

the early carbon filament lamps were almost as bad at 3 lumens/watt.

It took the invention of the coiled coil gasfilled tungsten lamp to get it up to 12 lumens/watt.

I read about one of the latest LED lamps which does 180 lumens/watt.

Tonight’s main feature was a rewatch of the excellent Margin Call (2011), as it’s currently on BBC iPlayer, and the Beeb have gone to the trouble of providing the subtitles that the official releases have otherwise not bothered with. A cracking film

And after that, I was inveigled by the iPlayer app’s suggestions into watching Panorama - Lockdown UK. I reckon this could come in handy for filmmakers seeking real-world footage to use in future adaptations of the first few chapters of certain John Wyndham novels

I had the subjective impression that there seemed to be a bit more road traffic over the last couple of days, and that seemed to be confirmed by the graph showing an uptick at HMG’s press conference today. I hope that doesn’t mean more roadblocks before I get round to going to the shops for “essentials”

                    Goodnight all
