Having neglected to have any more than a bag of crisps for lunch, I was extremely peckish, so I've had my tea a lot earlier than usual: a nice fry-up

And the exercise-related clothing was getting a bit overripe again, so that's been laundered

I've decided to watch a film and have gone for Still Life (2013) - IMDb as it's free with my Curzon membership. I almost went for The Deep Blue Sea (2011) - IMDb and may still as it's plenty early enough for two films.

Entertainment: five minutes of "High Noon", then Filthy Britain on 5.

Followed by "Gambit" on Sony movies classic, this being the 1966 version with Michael Caine & Herbert Lom.

Still Life didn't quite turn out as I expected. Lovely gentle film about a chap who hunts down the family of people who die alone, and arranges their funerals if family can't or won't sort it out. He attends the funerals of all the deceased whose cases he works on and it seems he is often the only person attending. He lives alone, eats the same basic food every day and essentially has no family or friends. He gets culled in a council cut after working there for 22 years, makes it a bit of a mission to do the right thing for his last case and in doing so it seems he might even have found a romantic interest. Needless to say, things don't quite go to plan as he achieves his desired outcome for his last case but it's a very sad one for him. I did get something in my eye at the end.

Decided against a second film so The Deep Blue Sea will have to wait for another day.

Shirley MacLaine doesn't speak until 29 minutes in.

Light supper of a piece of the apple tart with flaked almonds on top that I made a while back and froze, accompanied by salted caramel and honeycomb ice cream

Apart from a bit of Ambulance whilst eating I didn't bother with any telly tonight. Read a bit of They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-1945.

                  And now, an early night

                  Goodnight all

                    Morning all

Blue sky this morning, no sign of cloud from my vantage point. Currently 17 degrees with a forecast high of 24. Cloud cover set to increase as the day continues with high risk of rain this evening. Barometer dropped to 1023 mBar.

Busy day/week coming up. I'm only working 3.5 days rather 4 but will still be expected to deliver 5 days of effort .

The best bit about this week is HWMBO arrives on Thursday afternoon!

Morning all - had a lovely week off and that included most of the internet too!

Back to earth with a thud, potato cakes and a mug of tea!
