I saw that. I was outraged and then realised I'd done all of those today ...
-
To be fair I was one of them and did think something was going to happen but it appears not. The letters to GSK were a sign something could be starting but that just disappeared. That said the other big pharma along with other large companies that were renowned for keeping outside contractors for years...

Must admit I'm very nervous now. Been virtually end to end for last 10 years. Long'ish story but...
Was 5 weeks out of gig last year and got a big messy business re-org gig. Ended but they gave me a 6 weeks notice. Took all 6 weeks to find something, another big re-org. In both those stints...

To be fair I remember a lot of people saying the same thing 10 years ago when the boom started so it's a bit way overdue if that is going to start happening.
A lot of people also said the same about the quality of offshoring companies and it would all come back onshore... which it hasn't....

You can keep going on about it all you want. The fact of the matter is that 4 people have told you its a daft idea. Another stat is 100% of people that have replied have told you its a daft idea.
You know what. Just do it. You obviously don't want to listen so fill your boots....

Looking at your posting history it strikes me a bit strange that you've been both outside and inside before so should be in a better place to answer your own question than most on here who only know outside tbh.

Oh, and remember whatever the SDS decision is it can be reversed anytime up to the first invoice is paid so if they don't know what they are doing and issue an outside determination they can reverse that after you've started.

What are your longer term plans? Continue contracting or back to perm/inside. A LTD only becomes profitable over a brolly after a period of time. For a short term gig they'll work out about the same, if not better via brolly if you are happy to throw it all in a pension.
I'm a bit concerned...

Many tax breaks work only for Spouse or civil partner for fairly obvious reasons. You are a confirmed couple so splitting is fair enough. Girlfriend means nothing in most legislation/laws. Could be any random person and splitting with a random person often leads in to evasion/GAAR territory so my complete...

Just noticed you can install the frosted adhesive tints using water. Didn't mention that on the instructions I got so going to be having a word with them. Might get another one free to try again.. Result.

Just get some of the window tint stuff. It's cheap enough and you can have a go yourself. Sharp stanley knife and a squeegie or something to put it on. Some of it even works on static so doesn't need wetting to apply.
I would say avoid the self adhesive stuff though. I've just put up, well...Last edited by northernladuk; 14 April 2024, 20:23.

Only perms have managers, you could argue inside IR35'ers have 'managers' but not really as they are still contractors under a perm tax setup. Legal clauses in contracts are nothing to do with managers either. They are there to protect the client. WTFH's point is, and I agree with him, that it's utter...

Oh and thinking about it I'd have spent a lot more effort complaining to the agent about their PSL of brollies. I assume you've been given the big 4, none of which you really want to be with so give them a hard time about wanting your own brolly. Push it as far as you can and then sign. Client isn't...

It's likely a general one size fits all contract that's been created by a bunch of lawyers and then rolled out. They don't tailor contracts to contractors.
You are hence the one size fits all contract. I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill though. Most inside contracts will...Last edited by northernladuk; 12 April 2024, 09:15.

And that's exactly what they are doing by putting you through an umbrella. There are situations where you might pick an unscrupulous umbrella or have your inside money paid in to your LTD but they lose control of what you are doing in your LTD so they put clauses like this in. So they have an obligation...Last edited by northernladuk; 11 April 2024, 20:30.

Must admit I'm not keen on that article. Dunno why Amazon not paying tax is relevant or the argument IR35 affects the perms as she's put it but her end message seems welcome....

Good guide on what it is and isn't and also some interesting stuff about couples with partners that have bought before etc. Also mentions about long times between mortgages and how some products will call you a FTB but others won't.
