Mundane laundry has finished and been draped over the clotheshorse :tumble:
And, passing through the kitchen, I was distracted by the baked-on grease on the enamelled top of the grill, which I've...
I've not heard anything from the landlord (strictly speaking, manager; son of the landlord) since I signed the income declaration. I don't think he knows anything about this surveyor stuff. Strongly...
Mundane laundry on, time saver cycle :tumble:
And the bed has been stripped and left to air for a while before being made up again. Here's hoping I remember before I want to crash out
Walk walked, green ring and red ring closed :emb
Didn't have to go as far as usual, as rushing down to the bin a few times this morning (the boiler that the surveyor was supposed to inspect being...
Apparently the surveyor put it in the wrong page in her diary, which if nothing else tells us she's keeping appointments in a paper diary rather than a calendar that automatically syncs with her...
Turkey soup and wholemeal bread for lunch :tongue
Still no sign of a surveyor, nor any response to the text. Makes me wonder why I got up early(ish)
I've just texted the woman who's supposedly organising things to ask if I can safely assume the surveyor won't be here today and get on with my life, given that she's over an hour late...
Checked out this company and the scheme behind it all, and it seems the city council has adopted a version of this scheme which provides grants to people who aren't on benefits and are in...
My income has been crap the last year, so I actually met that one. But that's literally the only piece of paper I myself have seen to do with the matter.
Waiting for this damn surveyor, due at 11:30 :eyes
The more I think about this, the more I suspect the landlord has been trying to run some kind of scam which has got out of hand. When I was first...
Morning denizens
Slightly better night's sleep; could still do with some improvement though :ohwell
Sunny start out this morning, but only 4°C currently; 971/979mB :)
Apart from some stuff about a graceless orange narcissist failing to turn up for his last day at work this afternoon and some police stuff on C5 that was even less worth watching than usual (all the...
Snow! :eek
That wasn't forecast (or not here). Doesn't look like it's sticking at all though :)
Rain's turned torrential here now
Tea has been scouse, with a couple of nice chunks of sesame bloomer :tongue
Very rainy out still, and windy too :frown
Washing's nearly done :tumble:
Bedding wash on :tumble:
I meant to put it on this afternoon but after loading the machine, I got distracted and reorganised the stuff on the kitchen worktops instead
Should be a bit...
None of Obama's people had made the pledge required by Trump's EO, so they weren't bound by it. But this also means that even if Biden signs an EO to exactly the same effect right now, none of...
"It's already started", surely?
Just watching Biden get sworn in twelve minutes early, presumably to stop Trump pulling any dumb tulip with the nuclear codes in his final ten minutes
Any minute now. TRUST THE PLAN!
Q :smokin
Lunch has been Scotch broth with wholemeal bread :tongue
Just need to fit two more soups in the freezer now
:yay:  :yay:
Afternoon denizens
Another rubbish night's sleep followed by a failure to get up due to making up lost sleep :(
Grey and showery out after a lot of rain overnight, 11°C, 972/980mB.
Couldn't be bothered with much telly tonight; the factory programme about making pencils on Smithsonian, and some police shenanigans whilst dining.
The rain seems to be holding off for the moment...
I'd got twice as many ribs so it took loads longer for the sauce and what-have-you to reduce and bake on properly. But when it finally got there, they'd turned out inordinately well; wonderfully...
Mostly not. This is important junk! :D
Nope :ohwell
Found the recipe I was looking for :)
Exercise bicycling done, green ring closed :emb
I like them; they're big and fruity with an extremely sticky glaze on top :)
Afternoon snack of a toasted teacake with lashings of butter :tongue
And they're big Sainsbury's TTD ones, so that frees up a tad more space in the freezer. Every little helps! :)
Stressed out because the landlord has managed to get some grant for putting central heating in the flat. A surveyor's coming on Thursday to work out the details. As it will presumably involve taking...
I've got a gammon joint that supposedly needs to be used by Thursday. But I'm pretty sure gammon, being cured, is one of those things that can safely be pushed a few days past its use-by date....
Inevitably, lunch has been zingy chicken, tomato and lentil soup with wholemeal bread :tongue
The page URL isn't the image URL…

Afternoon denizens
Cloudy out but 11°C and the rain has stopped for now; 990/998mB on the clock :ind
Rubbish night's sleep then, inevitably, when I decided I might as well get up, I...
Bron/Broen S3E4 on the box tonight :bluelight
Rain seems to have settled in for the night :frown
Goodnight all  :tired
Teeming down here now :frown
Tea has been ribs and chips :tongue
This means there's now space for one portion of the ribs I'll be making tomorrow
Different sauce tomorrow though; I remembered to get some of that...
Sadly not :(
Ages ago I bought a big box of labels from Staples, not because I really needed them for anything in particular, but because I have no impulse control in a stationery shop. So I'm gradually working...
I label my soups and stews, but turnover is generally rapid enough that it's not an issue. One advantage of it not being very big, I suppose
It's absolutely jam packed in there already, but I can find a bit of space by doing things like taking frozen meat out of the plastic containers full of space it comes in and vacuum-packing it...
Soup divvied up. Six generous helpings :tongue
No idea how I'll fit it in the freezer :laugh
Still, one is lunch tomorrow and the rest'll be fine in the fridge for a few days before freezing if...
:eek
Good luck!
It is odd. I assured her the old card was still valid as I was still using it (I hadn't even opened the envelope with the new one yet and wasn't absolutely certain that was what it was) so she tried...
Walk briskly walked, green ring closed :emb
I figured I'd get it out of the way before Storm Zarg The Merciless (or whatever it's called this time) moves in and rains continuously on us for the...
There's this 124-page document: https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.225699/gov.uscourts.dcd.225699.1.0_3.pdf
It starts
…You get the gist
I did hear of a woman who tried to vote in person after already submitting a postal ballot, and another who tried to vote using a dead person's details. Both of them were caught before being able to...
