I had to unfollow him on there weeks ago.

I know that. In fact I was thinking about this last night. For the time being, however, relieved I did it judging by the times - IR35 and coronavirus.
Sp pleased I decided to take my permie job two months ago with what is going on.
This is going to take years to recover from.
You really have chosen the worst time to start contracting.
:D
Yes.
Good luck with getting the rate increased... :laugh
Start a new gig tomorrow (in a contract now but leaving) and my phone hasn't rung for any other contracts for weeks - usually getting two or three calls per day at least for a niche market.
This...
You work at Telefonica don't you. :D
Corporation tax to rise to 26%.
Good luck with that...
Had this myself a few months back. :D
Asking some very specific questions about an implementation which they wanted me to 'potentially' work on. I even pulled them up on it. Suffice to say, I...
You have a right to be worried - sounds like a tax avoidance scheme to me.
Staggered that as a first time contractor you didn't investigate this fully or speak to an accountant.
Good luck!
No one really knows but if you don't want to be inside, don't accept the contract and, if you are investigated and you are DEFINITELY outside, you shouldn't have anything to worry about if you can...
Exactly what I thought.
HMRC launches IR35 probe into Transport for London contractors
Assuming, being a public sector department, any contractors deemed inside (but declared outside by TFL) wont be liable for penalties...
Are they changing the rule at all (not that I am aware of)?
Or are they making the tool 'more inside-IR35 bias' - defintitely.
Any guidance as to what these 'changes' are?
Seen a similar thread in IR35 reform forum. Feel free to delete.
What an absolute joke.
Left a PS client when they told me my extension would be inside IR35 and was out of contract for one day before being offered a six month gig outside of IR35 which I'm in my second week of.
Lots...
100% agree.
:D
Given that the majority of banks are no longer going to be doing business with contractors working through limited companies, I think it's fair to assume it is going to be formalised...
Correct - so it shows that there is more to you than telling people to read stickies and/or do a google search. You're better than that. :laugh
Thanks, must have missed that bit.
So no more investigations (for those of us who haven't committed fraud or suspected criminal activity)?
I bet you have you tedious bore.
HMRC estimates that, outside of the public sector, only one in 10 people who should be paying tax under the current off-payroll working rules are doing so correctly. These reforms will ensure the...
RBS have just announced no more limited company contractors from February 28th 2020...
Client I worked at put contractors inside IR35 which I thoroughly disputed.
Asked them if the rate would be increased - they said no.
Expect this will be the case at the majority of places.
I had this conversation with another contractor.
If a public sector client has a lot of contractors and moves them from outside to inside, they obviously got the determination wrong and should be...
Can't help but think that next year, if contractors move to smaller companies where the client are except from making IR35 determinations, that this will make contractors choosing to work for them...
IPSE have been nothing short of piss poor in all of this tbh.
I think I work at the same place as the poster and he is correct in what he is saying.
They are using the CEST but it is being manipulated to give an inside IR35 verdict (imo).
Sounds like we may work at the same public sector client.
I thought the same and have raised this.
I work in the public sector and was deemed outside when I joined last year. I have now been told my new extension will be deemed inside IR35 even though my working practices haven't changed. Seems to...
I have a niche skill which is in demand but I am finding the majority of roles are now full time or "associate" which basically means inside IR35.
Not looking good in the long run...
I don't get what your point is.
I know I'm in a temp gig and not a perm job...
This isn't great news but I'm not worried. I work in the Public Sector for a very well known organisation and I was deemed outside by them. My working practices also put paid to that. Only people who...
Not until you get an IR35 investigation.
Their contracts are notoriously iffy from an IR35 perspective - you did the right thing.
That's the way I read it, too.
Cheers.
Worked with them before for many years.
Good luck trying to get a rate rise if you take a different role with another one of their clients despite the job being vastly different.
*Agency* Notice Period: / Consulting Company Notice Period: 0/0
Does that mean you don't have to give notice to leave or there is NO notice period (as in you can't leave).
Not strictly true is it though?
It doesn't mean increased tax unless you're caught inside IR35? If you're outside, and your client supports this, then you pay the same as you do now. ;)
My client have confirmed I am working outside of IR35 and have provided me with the results of the tool that they used to obtain this result.
With this in mind, if any investigations took place,...
This.
As long as my timesheet matches that's all they care about.
This.
Been contracting for ten years and never informed an agency of anything - sickness or leave.
Pretty sure my contract says to inform client within a 'reasonable time', too.
My client actually encourages it to cement the outside IR35 status I have been granted.
I probably won't, however.
April 2019 it is then...
Stamp duty abolished for first time buyers up to £300k.
Didn't see that one coming...
Surely though IR35 would've been something he would've discussed or am I being naïve?
The point at which small businesses pay VAT will be kept at £85,000...
Now moving onto housing so hopefully that's all for now? Or does he not announce everything in the speech?
Higher rate of income tax-free allowance to rise to £46,350...
