    I expect the poor farmer wants an EU subsidy. Still £600K is £600K, and every bit helps. Do you think she deserves £600K?

    in general arable farmers are looking at clear profit of about £1000 for every ten acres.

    So, for example 500 acres would bring 500/10*£1000=£50,000

    Using this analogy it is clear to see that a maybe 5 acres have been
    damaged which is about £500 quid.

                Someone somewhere has retracted it, I read the metro this morning and it also said £600,000 and my first though was *** me that field must be worth a few million then ...
