I don't think I have worked on a client in the last 10 years that would survive a good old fashion biblical outage... Many of them just go through the motions because its too much effort to think about recovery properly.

One recent client with outsourced IT services suffered a comedic 4 day outage of their "HA" system due to a power glitch. It wasn't at all due to the numpty ****ers messing about with the disk arrays in production hours.

I quite like Simon Jenkins even though he writes in the Guardian and is a bit of a liberal. He has a point which is to kick start the economy that instead of printing money and give it to the banks to pay higher wages to their staff they should dole it out to us>
