        Agree with NLUK

        Best approach is usually to go with a contractor specialist. It's ideal if your accountant is close enough for you to visit face-to-face, but it's not essential. Sound's like you're about to "take the plunge" for the first time, in which case do speak to someone soon. The earlier you can get some advice and guidance, the more likely you are to avoid common pitfalls and make the most from your first steps. For example, if your timings work out and you leave your employment and start your first contract in April then you start in a new tax year with a fresh personal allowance. That's how I took my first step
