    Best FREE VPN?

    Anyone recommend one?

I think you are likely to be looking at "least worst" in my own experience. I did the free trials of quite a few VPN's and I found all were dire and none did what they said they would do. I gave up on the idea entirely.

I've used Hidemyass when I used free - many sites blocked access from it, including CUK IIRC.

I now always use IPVanish for all my internet traffic. A one year plan costs under £5 a month, and you can choose wherever you want in the world pretty much.

I had some issues with the Android app at one stage, but I just deleted it and reinstalled and then I could watch iPlayer from France

depends what you want it for, and how secure you need it to be.
freebies don't tend to be very secure, but if you just want to dodge location specific stuff, TOR's worth a look, but a bit of a bugger to configure

Going on your exact requirements, the best free VPN is OpenVPN, easy to install, configure and host, protects you from using open free WiFi's that most places use these days, but I assume this is not what you really meant now is it.

The built-in one in Opera works for me.

Why does it have to be free?

Can't it just be low cost?

Why would you expect a free VPN to be secure, reliable and fast? Surely it's worth paying a small monthly fee?

I seriously recommend taking out a free trial before you pay. I found that even highly recommended providers hit my download speed by anything up to 90%. It was impossible to stream video and that was what I wanted the VPN for. Also note that I know of no VPN that allows access to Netflix UK from abroad. They are all blocked.
