    Laptop insurance recommendation?

Anyone got recommendations for decent business laptop insurance?
Just swapped in new laptop, rather a lot of pennies worth, and looking to cover....many providers seem to top out at £2k, and MyCo just spent £2,500 on a shiny slab!

The minute you use it, it's worth considerably less than you paid for it. Sounds like you're looking for a replace with new policy rather than replace at market value and that could cost a pretty penny more than what you paid over the life of the policy/laptop.

Agreed, really just looking for first year cover - I did similar with a Surface Book (£2,300) bought a few years back, yr2 onwards 'self insured'.....

Plenty of providers out there for mainstream - protectbubble etc. - but mainly seem to only offer £2k max for a laptop.

Did think this, but house insurance would need to have it specified and, perhaps more crucially, it is owned by business (MyCo) and not personal......must admit, I haven't asked, but....

Many home insurance policies *will* cover some business equipment owned by your employer but it's normally severely limited (I think mine covers up to £2k total). Check your policy booklet.

Much better to pay for a dedicated policy in the name of YourCo. I use Hiscox for everything apart from my professional indemnity (QDOS) - I have a combined public liability + employer's liability + office contents + portable equipment cover which costs me about £300/year.

For simpler needs, I'd recommend Direct Line for Business - I used to have similar to the above for about £90/year (Direct Line wouldn't insure my contents in my garden office which is why I had to switch to Hiscox).

              Thanks ^^

I did check with home insurer and they advised it was down to what the invoice stated in terms of ownership.....i.e. if bought in my name, claim would likely be fine, but in MyCo name (which it is) then might cause problem. They advised to insure separately.
