    Recommend a printer/scanner/copier

Budget around £250 max I reckon, which would be a huge upgrade for me considering my previous Canon MG6150 was a cheap but good option.

Something not too bulky either please.

OEM cartridge availability is a must!

Had my Brother HL3140CW colour laser and Canon Lide 220 scanner for over 5 years now, both have never let me down. Actually I bought separate from a recommendation on here as those all-in-one inkjets are pish.

Mine lasted just over a year, conveniently when the warranty expired.

He had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I've always used HP, usually lasted 5+ years.
don't know if they do les petit bijou ones though ;-)

oh, and OEM <as dodgy as you want to risk> are available AFAIK.

If you're willing to buy separates, I picked up a Fujitsu
scanner (not a flatbed) back when XP was a young pup and it's worked flawlessly all these years and over many OS updates. The brushes are getting a bit ropey now so I sometimes have to feed sheets in one at a time but I can chuck in almost any size/thickness of paper and it does a great job.

It's getting harder to find printers that aren't scanners and copiers nowadays (I do have one!). The combined products used to have a reputation for being crap at all their functions, but nowadays it seems to most common option and quality is good.

Actually those all-in-ones have massively improved in quality of the last 4-5 years.

So much so that after getting a HP Envy 4527 I dumped my Epson U1200 that I bought in 2002 (that hadn't been usurped then then),

How much do you print? I bought an HP Envy (can't recall the number) for like £30 and got the cheapest ink subscription £2 for 50 pages / month with up to 100 pages rollover if unused in previous months. Never went over the limit and often print high quality ink hungry pictures of the kids to distribute to technophobic grand parents for no extra cost other than the paper.

TCO for the past 4 years is like £100. If it breaks I will just buy a new one for £30. If one of the more expensive laser printers breaks after 1 year your stuffed.

The major issue with my HP AIO was the psu went south, however in US models it is external so easier to replace. All the UK/Euro models have internal PSUs so a bit trickier to fix but mostly you're left with a huge black plastic paper holder.

And HP were all to happy to charge me £5 per 10 mins to tell me this over the phone (premium support), when you can work it out for free on the US help site.

The whole thing costs £30, why would you even bother calling HP, on a toll line nonetheless if it was out of warranty?
