TBH I've found that it mostly works ok without much tinkering.
WHS - the only thing I've had to tinker with is to try and get three monitors working off two graphics cards (which I gave up on and settled for 2 monitors) and the fingerprint reader on my laptop.
Scanner worked first time - which is more than I can say for under Win XPx64 and Windows 7.

Use Linux Mint instead, what Ubuntu should have been and much better driver support.
Part of me wishes that I'd taken Mint instead of Ubuntu for my desktop machine, but I didn't want to wait for a 64bit version of Mint based on Ubuntu 9.10.
Oh well - not too fussed by it (but it's a little brown for my tastes!)

The good thing with Linux is that when things go wrong, there is a hard-core geek community that can help fix the problem quickly.
