viewing xml objects Office 2011 for mac

I've been sent a couple of documents with sample xml requests embedded in a word document, however I can't seem to be able to open them using Word for mac 2011.

I get the following - Word cannot locate the server application for object objects

Any ideas on best way to proceed with this ?

no but I have recently had to write a lot of xml to get the ribbon to work in xl and ms access.
