You're not Scottish then? Or a girl?

I am Scottish not a female though , Gal is a shortening of my surname, and Scott is my first name. I worked in the States for a while and now work in Scotland. Don't ask how that's going though I am extremely unhappy at my current role to the point I need to be on medication (Not joking!).

If your employer refuses to let you use those 3 weeks leave in your notice period, just get a sick note from your doctor.

"I can't cope with the stress, so much so that I've handed in my notice, and they won't let me take my leave. Doctor, is there anything you can do to help?"

Bish bosh, one 3 week sick note.

Start your new contract the next day.

    What'll they do? Sack you?

BTW, what music CD have you got in your CD player right now?

Richard, you make an interesting point, the worry is my "file" is tarnished with taking so much sick leave. I guess I value references and I know a broken leg or bout of pneumonia will be looked at more sympathetically than depression.

Contractors don't have a sick record. (Nobody ever asked me, anyway.) It's not like anyone can call your HR person to check your record.

BTW, got any pizzas in the freezer?
