    Hello from me

    Hi Guys,

Im Jon and I'm a commercial insurance broker from oop north near Leeds.

I won't say which one as I'm not here to sell anything, I'm hear to learn about contracting so I can understand the industry a little better.

Whilst I'm not aiming to promote myself, I will happily respond to any technical insurance questions you may have.

    Hi,

Where selling and advertising isn't allowed on the forums as per the T&C's there is nothing wrong with having your company name in your screen name as you can see from other providors that post regularly on the forum

It is great for us to have you types on the forum as we have many questions about our existing providors that may not know about contracting. In many cases the contractor has actually gone back armed with this knowledge to either correct or even end up sacking poor providors your type of feedback is always valuable.

Can you bleed radiators and like gladiators though?

      What a splendid 1st post!

Welcome Jon, we hope you become a regular, we don't have many insurance specialists around here.

And please feel free to change your login to [email protected] (ask Admin), that way we can see who you are while you give advice (this is our 'thank you' to specialists).

Cheers chaps, I 'll probably get round to doing that in a few weeks, once I've got my feet under the table.

Meant to learn about contracting, but last night got sucked in by the dodgy accountant thread, which was a very interesting read. Especially as he was based near us.

I'll post and read a bit more over the weekend

          Hi Jon

Always glad to share the knowledge about contracting

It really is quite simple as a business model, however you should be aware of the various flavors in CUK posters modus operandi:
          1. Earn lots of dosh, drink expensive wines, drive fabulous cars and make love to beautiful wimmin - 90% of the crew work this way (except of course the wimmin contractors...although thinking about that perhaps it may still be valid)

          2. Permie but trying to compete with bragging rights against the contractors on this board - only a few work like this, but they are easily spotted by the cars driven (usually a Honda or Aygo) and geographic location (an easy spot is where they insist upon living in some top London location worth £millions )- best to keep at arms length and avoid where possible

          3. The ex Contractor - now struggling with the changes needed to adjust with living on minimum wage, dossing in some West country hovel (e.g. Dorset), tends to be bitter and twisted about the role life has dealt them. Predominately ex-services and no value in discussing anything with as conversations are limited only to football -generally best avoided

There are further sub divisions.... tape changers, psychopaths, bird fanciers etc - but hopefully this will be enough to get you started

Remember the CUK motto - "servo vestri velum crusta" which roughly translates to "keep your curtains crusty & your radiators well bled"

Glad to have you on board & HTH
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Good to hear! And you passed the 1st test of not flouncing when (jokingly) challenged
