IT contractor skills shortages surged in November

Shortages of freelance IT skills soared in November, with technology recruiters of contractors reporting scarce candidate-types to now be running well into double-digits.

The increase appears stark when compared to the end of summer in September as back then, there were only seven IT contractor skills reported as hard-to-source. Now, there are 16.

Back in this latter half of Q3 and based on REC member agencies’ August billings, Revit was the only skill uniquely scare among IT contractors -- whereas now, there are a total of five.

They are Cloud, SAP Hybris, Revit CAD Design, Pen Testing and Oracle Fusion, none of which were tough for the agencies to find in October, indicating that the shortage is sudden.

The 11 other scarce IT contractor skills (which are scarce among permanent candidates too) are; Automation Testing, CAD, C++, Data, DevOps, Digital, Gaming, IT, Software Development, Systems Architects and Technology.

According to the latest Report on Jobs by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC), also scarce for available full-time IT roles are ICT Management; Linux, Programming, C#; Puppet, Salesforce, Software Engineering and Systems Architecture.
