The Opportunity Help harness the power of digital technology to make UK democracy function better, more efficiently and more transparently. As Network Lead in Building Infrastructure for the Parliamentary Digital Service, you will be integral to the refurbishment of Parliament's historic buildings, as well as decommissioning those no longer fit for purpose. Specifically, you will oversee the design, planning and implementation of a wide range of network infrastructure including LAN, WLAN, WAN, data centres, and internet connectivity and network security services.Working with historic buildings, some of which are listed, offers a unique challenge. At the same time, you'll have responsibility for ensuring that our network remains highly available, secure and fit for purpose at all times. With considerable influence over the changes ahead, you'll have the satisfaction of working on projects end to end and seeing tangible results. Joining a team of more than 20, you will:plan, schedule, implement and supervise all maintenance and installation work associated with the project's Parliamentary network infrastructure, including major configuration changes, upgradescontribute to the assessment of the impact of planned technical changes and assist in their evaluation, testing and implementationinput to the design and development of new and changed systems and services, and oversee the acceptance of new systems and servicesmanage third-party contractors providing support services to ensure they meet Parliament's requirementsmanage the response to enquiries by users, specialists and others, and resolve unexpected or extraordinary events or incidentsliaise with developers, clients, users and service management to determine capacity requirementsWhat You NeedSkilled in gathering and understanding technical requirements, you'll be confident in playing a leading role in the design and adaptation of infrastructure projects. You'll be used to working in close consultation with technical and non-technical stakeholders, monitoring progress and managing expectations. You must also have sound experience of collaborating with third-party contactors. You will need:experience in infrastructure network architecture design and implementation (WAN, WLAN and data centres)familiarity with wireless campus deployment, ideally including its use in historic buildingsgood knowledge of modern network security including segmentation, network access control and dynamic VLANSstrong experience in producing technical documentation, proposals and options papersCisco certification to CCNP level or equivalentexperience of migrating data centresthe ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UKAbout The TeamThe Building Moves and Infrastructure team are working on exciting renovation and building commissioning work across the Parliamentary Estate.
