Who is responsible

This policy covers ContractorUK Websites: these pages, the form where you start your site, and the dashboard where you build and manage it.

What we collect

• What you tell us for your site: what you do, and anything you add later, such as your business name, company details, text, projects or a logo.
• Your CV, if you build from it: your browser reads the file and sends us only its text. An AI model (from Anthropic) turns that text into a short description for your site, leaving out contact details, dates of birth and client names. We don't keep the file or its full text, only the short description, which becomes part of the instructions for your site.
• Your account: your name, email address and password. The password is held by our platform provider, not by us.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We see the last four digits of your card and its expiry date, never the full card number.
• Technical data: your IP address and basic logs, used to keep the service working and to stop misuse. For example, we limit how many sites one connection can start in a day.
• How these pages are used: which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked, your browser and device type, and your rough location (from your IP address). We use PostHog for this. It is set up to store nothing on your device, and it never receives what you type into the start form.

Why we use it, and the legal basis

• To build, host and support your website, and to take payment: contract.
• To keep the service secure and prevent misuse: legitimate interests.
• To see how these pages are used and improve them: legitimate interests.
• To keep accounting and tax records: legal obligation.
• To send you service emails, such as receipts, trial reminders and security notices: contract. We send marketing only if you opt in, and you can opt out at any time.

How your site is written

We turn your answers into instructions for an AI site builder, which writes and designs your pages. The builder runs on our platform provider's systems and uses AI models from other companies. We may also use an AI model (from Anthropic) to check your site's text for claims you did not give us. Your answers are used to build and check your site, not to advertise to you.

Who we share it with

• 10Web, our website platform provider, which builds and hosts sites on Google Cloud and OVH data centres.
• AI providers that write and check site text, including Anthropic.
• Stripe, for payments.
• PostHog, for page and click statistics, on servers in the EU.
• Our professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

We do not sell your data.

Data outside the UK

Some of these providers are based outside the UK or use staff or sub-processors outside it. Where your personal data leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected in a way UK law accepts, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

How long we keep it

• Trial sites that are not kept, and their form answers: up to 90 days after the trial ends.
• Account and site data: while you subscribe, then up to 90 days, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
• Billing records: 6 years, for tax.

Cookies

These pages do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our page statistics (PostHog) store nothing on your device. The start form keeps your answers in your browser's session storage so a refresh loses nothing; it is cleared when you close the tab. The site builder dashboard uses the cookies it needs to keep you logged in.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, or to get a copy of it. Email marketing@contractoruk.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commission, formerly the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Your website's visitors

If your site has a contact form, you control the messages it collects and decide what happens to them. The privacy page on your site explains this to your visitors. We process that data for you, as set out in our Terms.

Changes

We will email you about any significant change to this policy.
