The unknown sex star of an erotic blog that transfixed workers on Capitol Hill has exposed himself, so that he can sue the author for posting details of their intimate acts on the internet. Robert Steinbuch, staff attorney for Ohio Republican senator Michael DeWine, is claiming at least $75,000 (£40,000) damages for “gross invasion of privacy,” after the junior colleague he slept with chronicled their affair. Steinbuch admits that he is one of six men featuring on the erotic blog of Jessica Cutler, a 26-year-old Senate worker, who claims she used her “glamour job for meeting boys and showing off my outfits.” Among the listed men, claimed Cutler’s blog - the Washingtonienne, were two men regularly paying her for sex and another, alleged to be Chief of Staff at a government agency, appointed by President Bush. Besides scoring them on sexual performance, Cutler decided to use initials to list the six regular appointments on the web diary, but Steinbuch said in legal papers that he was also identified by his first name. Cutler also made note of the lawyer’s religion, saying at one point, “I really just want to be a Jewish housewife with a big rock on my finger,” adding extra clues about his job, home town and twin brother. Steinbuch argues that the public disclosure of his two-week affair with Cutler caused him “emotional distress, humiliation embarrassment and anguish.” During the two-week affair, Cutler said that her new “item…likes spanking both giving and receiving” and commented that the duo would make an unsuitable married couple because they “have nasty sex like animals.” Other private and personal facts about Mr Steinbuch’s life were further scandalised to attract more attention, claimed his legal suit, citing the example how his admission of “I don’t mind passive,” appeared on the blog as “he likes submissive women.” His legal papers also insist he was unaware that Cutler was seeing other men, let alone five others, as well as not knowing she was prostituting herself and then posting the details to a global audience. Consequently, legal experts are expecting a tough time for Cutler if she chooses to pursue her defence citing America’s First Amendment right to free speech. In addition, it is understood that she only stopped writing the blog when Senator DeWine caught her improperly using Senate computers. Despite this, most of the revelations are thought to have been posted from Cutler’s laptop PC. Mr Steinbuch, who is 37 and unmarried, described her conduct as “outrageous” and condemned her actions as “ruthless.” “It is one thing to be manipulated and used by a lover, it is another thing to be cruelly exposed to the world,” he said. Since being fired from her Senate job, Cutler has signed a book deal with a six-figure advance payment and has appeared in Playboy. She told the magazine: “With a blog, you can't expect your private life to be private anymore, you just never know. “But, when you work on the Hill you find out the guy you've been sleeping with has told everyone in your office about it. So, what's the difference? It's writing on the bathroom wall.” May 20, 2005 Email this article Printer friendly page Previous Page
