About the Role
Long Term Futures are working with an inclusive mainstream primary school in Kensington & Chelsea to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant for their specialist Autism Resource Base from September.
The resource base supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder who benefit from a smaller, more structured learning environment while still having opportunities to access the wider mainstream school.
You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and specialist staff to provide individualised support, helping pupils develop their communication, independence, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Delivering structured SEN interventions and activities
Supporting pupils with transitions and changes to routine
Encouraging independence and positive engagement with learning
Supporting pupils to access mainstream lessons and activities where appropriate
Using visual timetables, communication tools, and other autism-specific strategies
Working closely with teachers and specialist SEN professionalsThe Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting children with autism or additional needs
Understands the importance of structure, consistency, and routine
Is patient, calm, and able to build trusting relationships with pupils
Is confident supporting communication and emotional regulation
Is proactive and works well as part of a specialist team
Has a genuine interest in developing their experience within SENDApplications are welcomed from experienced SEN Teaching Assistants as well as graduates from psychology, speech and language, education, childcare, or other relevant backgrounds.
