Solution Architect – Workday HRIS Transformation

Solution Architect required for a long-term contracting role working on a major transformation programme, helping to overhaul and modernise legacy HRIS technology across a large-scale enterprise environment.
This is a newly created role with a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of the programme. You’ll take ownership of solution architecture across the HR portfolio, working closely with business stakeholders, internal technology teams and third-party implementation partners to define and deliver the target architecture.
The role has a strong focus on Workday and colleague-facing platforms, with the opportunity to shape how HR, Learning, Talent and Workforce Management technologies integrate across a complex enterprise landscape. Exposure to large-scale HR transformation programmes is highly desirable, alongside strong knowledge of multiple Workday modules.
You’ll have significant input into the overall system architecture, integration strategy and target-state design, while also helping to establish architectural governance across a number of internal business units and implementation vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own end-to-end solution architecture across the HR technology portfolio.
Develop target-state architectures for Workday and associated employee facing platforms.
Lead architectural decision-making across complex HR technology landscapes.
Define and oversee integration strategies, including API-led and enterprise integration patterns.
Work closely with internal business, technology and HR stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
Work with implementation partners and third-party vendors to ensure solutions align with the overall architecture.
Provide architectural oversight across identity and access management.
Support architectural governance, standards and technology decision-making across the programme.
Help shape the future technology landscape as part of a significant HR transformation.
Desired Skills / Experience
Seasoned Solution Architect with experience working within an HRIS / HR technology environment.
Strong Workday expertise, ideally with exposure across multiple Workday modules and international deployments
Proven experience delivering architecture within large-scale HR transformation programmes.
Strong understanding of enterprise integrations, APIs and API-led architecture.
Experience with SSO, MFA, Entra ID and/or SailPoint would be advantageous.
Comfortable defining target-state architecture and leading complex architectural decisions.
Experience working across internal business units, technology teams and third-party implementation vendors.
Experience within geographically distributed organisations would be a significant advantage.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate across both technical and business environments
