QTS Science Tutor

About the Role

We're looking for a QTS-qualified Science Tutor to support children and young people across Southampton and the surrounding Hampshire areas through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll help learners who require alternative educational provision, supporting them to build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes in Science. Many students have experienced disruption to their education and benefit from a tailored approach that meets their individual needs.

This is a great opportunity for qualified teachers seeking a more flexible role where they can focus on making a direct impact with individual learners.

Location: Southampton & Surrounding Hampshire Areas

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and personalised Science tuition
Adapt learning to suit individual needs and learning styles
Support students in building confidence and academic progress
Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement
Monitor progress and provide session feedback where required

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including teaching, or tutoring
Strong Science subject knowledge up to GCSE
Experience supporting students with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

You may work with learners who have:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
EHCPs and other additional educational needsEach placement offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference through tailored, relationship-led support.
