SEN Teaching Assistant - High Wycombe

Schools in High Wycombe are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with profound and complex needs. This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require a high level of academic, personal, and emotional support. You will help students access learning, develop communication skills, build independence, and work towards their individual goals within a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.

This is a rewarding SEN Teaching Assistant role in High Wycombe, offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's education and everyday lives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with profound and complex needs
Assist with personal care where required, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support
Support communication using PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and other communication methods
Help implement individual education, care, and EHCP plans
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and life skills
Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate

Experience working with children or young people with SEN is preferred
Understanding of profound and complex needs, including PMLD, ASD, and physical disabilities
Patient, caring, and empathetic approach
Comfortable supporting personal care needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Reliable, proactive, and adaptable
