Forklift Driver - Housing Construction Site

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Forklift Driver to join our team on a housing construction site. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to move, load, unload, and position construction materials and equipment around the site.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate forklifts and other authorised material-handling equipment.
Load and unload construction materials, deliveries, pallets, and equipment.
Transport materials to designated areas around the housing development.
Assist site teams with the movement of bricks, blocks, timber, plasterboard, roofing materials, and other construction supplies.
Carry out daily forklift safety and equipment checks before operation.
Ensure materials are stored safely and securely.
Follow site traffic management plans, speed limits, and designated routes.
Maintain a clean and organised working area.
Report any equipment defects, hazards, damage, or incidents to the Site Manager.
Follow all company and site health and safety procedures.
Work closely with site supervisors, tradespeople, delivery drivers, and other construction workers.
Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the Site Manager.

Requirements

Valid forklift licence/certification appropriate for the equipment being operated.
Previous experience operating a forklift on a construction or housing site preferred.
Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
Ability to work safely around pedestrians, vehicles, and construction activities.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a strong safety-focused attitude.

Working Conditions

Must wear required PPE, including safety boots, hi-vis clothing, hard hat, and other site-specific protective equipment.
CPCS or NPORS required.
