Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEN school in West London for an enthusiastic and experienced Nurture Teacher to teach a Year 7 class from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who understands that successful teaching within an SEMH environment is about much more than delivering lessons. You will need to be able to build strong relationships, create a calm and structured classroom and help pupils develop the confidence and emotional skills needed to engage with education.

The Role

You will take responsibility for a Year 7 Nurture class, delivering a broad and engaging programme designed around the individual needs of pupils.

The successful candidate will be confident teaching across a range of subjects, with particular importance placed on English and Maths.

You will work closely with support staff and the wider SEN team to provide a consistent, nurturing and highly structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging lessons to a Year 7 Nurture class.
Teach across the curriculum with a strong focus on English and Maths.
Differentiate learning to meet individual SEN needs.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement.
Use positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
Maintain a calm, consistent and structured classroom environment.
Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching accordingly.
Work closely with TAs, the SEND team and wider school staff.
Support pupils in developing independence, confidence and resilience.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

Hold QTS - essential.
Have previous experience working in an SEN school - essential.
Have strong experience working with pupils with SEMH needs - essential.
Be confident teaching English and Maths to Year 7 pupils.
Have experience working within a Nurture, SEMH or specialist setting.
Be highly skilled in behaviour management and relationship building.
Understand trauma-informed and nurturing approaches to education.
Be calm, patient and consistent.
Have high expectations while recognising and responding to individual pupil needs.
Be passionate about helping young people who have struggled within mainstream education.
