Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Newcastle

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in your career? If so, we want to hear from you! We are recruiting on behalf of secondary schools across Newcastle seeking dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support students across KS3, KS4 and KS5 settings. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions and helping students achieve their full potential.

About the role:

Supporting students aged 11-19 across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Leading lessons and supervising classes in the absence of the teacher when required.
Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups of students.
Supporting students with additional learning needs and barriers to education.
Working closely with teaching staff to plan and implement learning activities.
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and school leaders.
Promoting a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.Pay, Hours and Contract:

Pay: £17 - £19 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, temporary position with the potential to become permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Location: NewcastleExperience, Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous experience working within a secondary school setting.
HLTA qualification or equivalent educational support qualification is desirable.
Experience delivering interventions and supporting whole-class learning.
Confident managing groups of students and leading learning activities.
Strong communication, behaviour management and organisational skills.
A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning.
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Right to work in the UK.
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to process a new application.
Professional child-related or care-related references covering the last two years.About Prospero:
