About this job

£31- £35 Per Hour

A leading housing provider is seeking an experienced Governance Manager to support in delivering high‑quality governance, regulatory compliance and Board support.
This interim role offers flexibility, a strong degree of autonomy, and the opportunity to step into a senior governance position with line management responsibility.
The initial term is 6 months minimum with the potential for extension and the opportunity to apply for the permanent position when recruitment commences.

Your new role
You will play a key part in maintaining effective governance frameworks, statutory compliance and regulatory reporting across the Group.
The role includes managing Board and Committee administration, producing high‑quality minutes, drafting governance reports, maintaining statutory registers, coordinating regulatory submissions and supporting GDPR compliance.
You will lead a small governance team, deputise for the Company Secretary when required, and provide guidance, training and toolkits to colleagues on governance processes, delegated authority and corporate obligations.
The position is primarily home‑based, with office attendance on Wednesdays and one Thursday in every four for Board meetings.

What you'll need to succeed
You'll bring proven experience working within governance functions, ideally with exposure to Boards and Committees in a regulated environment.
Experience within housing is beneficial but not essential. You must be confident managing a team, delivering accurate minutes, and navigating corporate governance processes.
A Chartered Governance Institute qualification (or active progression toward it) is essential.
Strong organisational skills, resilience, sound judgement and the ability to influence at all levels are key.

What you'll get in return
A flexible 35‑hour working week over four or five days, hybrid working, and the chance to step into a senior governance role with six reports (four direct).
You'll gain valuable interim experience with the opportunity to apply for the permanent post when it becomes available.
Interviews will take place via Teams, with shortlisted candidates asked to prepare a short presentation.
Weekly pay and hourly rate inclusive of holidays.
