About this contract

Not every LSA role is in a classroom with children. This one is about helping young adults build the life they want.

Principal Education is recruiting a Level 3 SEN LSA for a specialist Post 19 provision in Wandsworth, run by a respected autism charity. The provision supports adults aged 19 to 25 with autism and related communication needs, and every learner has an EHCP. Teaching here is underpinned by ABA, and learners spend around half their week out in the community, building the communication, independence and work skills they'll carry for life.

If you've supported autistic adults in care, worked with teenagers in a special school, or want to learn ABA from people who do it properly, this is a role that will genuinely change how you work.

The role

Support learners one to one and in small groups, in the hub and out in the community
Deliver individual programmes using ABA strategies, with training and guidance from the clinical team
Help learners build real life skills: travel, shopping, cooking, money and work experience
Support communication through signing, visuals and an inclusive communication approach
Stay calm and follow behaviour plans when learners find things difficult
Celebrate every step towards independence, because each one matters
What you MUST demonstrate

A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent Level 3
Experience supporting autistic young people or adults, whether in a school, college, care or supported living setting
Team Teach training, or willingness to complete it
Patience, resilience and genuine respect for the adults you support
Full time availability, Monday to Friday, from a 9am start
An Enhanced DBS covering both the child and adult barred lists, on the Update Service or willingness to apply
Two professional references and the right to work in the UK
Pay and benefits

£110 to £130 per day depending on experience, paid weekly
Term time only
Hands on ABA experience in a specialist setting, a real asset on any SEN CV
Varied days split between the hub and the community, so no two weeks look the same
Long term role with the chance to make a real difference to young adults' futures
A consultant who meets every candidate personally and actually picks up the phone
