The Opportunity
Looking for a stable Monday-to-Friday sewing role with a fantastic team? Our client in Rainham is seeking a precise, detail-oriented Sewing Machinist to join their welcoming and supportive workshop.
This is an end-to-end role perfect for someone with a strong background in textiles and garment manufacturing. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the repair—from carefully unpicking the damage to sitting at the machine and stitching it back together to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Working with heavy-duty workwear, you will manage your own station and handle a varied mix of preparation and active machine sewing:

Garment Deconstruction: Carefully unpicking damaged seams and sections, ensuring the base material remains completely unharmed.
*
Preparation: Sizing, cutting, and prepping fabric patches or replacement panels tailored to each repair.
*
Machine Repair: Operating industrial sewing machines (flatbeds/overlockers) to stitch patches, repair structural damage, and reinforce garments.
*
Quality Inspection: Checking all finished repairs against strict durability and quality standards suitable for rugged warehouse environments.

Team Collaboration: Working closely with the wider workshop team to maintain a smooth, efficient flow of garments.
What We’re Looking For

Industrial Sewing Experience: Proven experience operating industrial or domestic sewing machines for garment repair or assembly.

Hand Dexterity & Speed: Fast and precise when using unpickers, snips, and other textile tools alongside your machine work.
*
Reliability: Someone who thrives in a consistent routine and enjoys a collaborative workshop setting.
