* Monday to Thursday: 8 hours per day
* Friday: 7 hours
* Shift options: 8:00am – 4:00pm or 6:00am – 2:00pm
* Overtime may be available
Rate: £17.79 per hour PAYE (Inside IR35)
Rate x1.5 Saturday and hours over 39.
Rate x2 - Sunday hours
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operator to join a busy industrial manufacturing facility in Walkden. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator with a background in chemical processing environments to join a well-established operation where full site-specific training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of filling and loading activities, ensuring products meet quality standards while maintaining strict health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely operate plant equipment involved in gas filling activities
* Control filling processes using pumps, motors, manifolds, weigh scales and associated equipment
* Operate Forklift Trucks to load, unload and move cylinders and pallets
* Carry out product sampling and analysis to ensure compliance with specifications
* Receive and inspect incoming products
* Complete operational and quality documentation accurately
* Inspect, clean, label and prepare cylinders for use
* Perform minor cylinder repairs where required
* Report operational issues, equipment faults and quality concerns
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety across the site
* Follow all operating procedures, quality requirements and safe working practices
* Use appropriate PPE and comply with all site safety regulations
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence
* Previous experience working within a chemical plant or similar process manufacturing environment
* GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
* Good computer literacy and ability to complete electronic records
* Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Equipment and Processes
The role involves working with:
* Industrial gas filling systems
* Cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps
* Gas analysis and monitoring equipment
* Cylinder handling equipment and FLTs
* Computerised operational systems
* Medical gas filling and analysis processes
