Science Technician

Secondary School - Newham, East London

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to join an established science department and supportive secondary school in Newham. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting high-quality science teaching and learning.

The Role

As Science Technician, you will work closely with the Science Department to:

Prepare equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Maintain laboratories, equipment and stock, ensuring a safe and well-organised working environment

Support teachers during practical lessons when required

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH

Manage ordering, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working in a school science laboratory or a similar practical environment (desirable)

Has good organisational skills and attention to detail

Understands (or is willing to learn) health and safety requirements in a science setting

Is proactive, flexible and able to work well as part of a team

Has good communication skills and a positive, professional attitude

Relevant qualifications in science or laboratory work are desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
