Attendance Officer - Canterbury

Part-time | Temp-to-Perm | Start ASAP

Academics Ltd are currently working with a welcoming and supportive school in Canterbury who are looking to appoint an experienced Attendance Officer to join their administration team.

The Role

As the Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring attendance, following up on absences and working closely with families and school staff to address attendance concerns.

Your duties will include:

Monitoring daily pupil attendance and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
Following up on unexplained and persistent absences with parents and carers.
Recording attendance information accurately using the school's MIS.
Identifying patterns and concerns around attendance and escalating where appropriate.
Working closely with pastoral teams, teachers and the Senior Leadership Team.
Supporting attendance improvement strategies and interventions.
Preparing attendance reports and maintaining detailed records.
Communicating confidently and professionally with parents and carers.
Supporting with general school administration when required.
Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience working within a school environment - essential.
Previous experience in attendance, administration, pastoral support or a similar school-based role.
Experience using SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or another school MIS.
A strong understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
Confidence when communicating with parents, pupils and colleagues.
The ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
A proactive, reliable and solution-focused approach.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider school team.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
