Academics are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil within a welcoming primary school in Eastbourne.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong background in SEN who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child's education and development.

The Role

Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, develop their confidence and thrive within the school environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
Supporting the pupil to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
Developing positive and trusting relationships with the pupil
Supporting their social, emotional and academic development
Helping to manage behaviour and implement individual support strategies
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Encouraging independence and confidence
Providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
Have experience providing 1:1 support or working in a similar support role
Have a patient, calm and nurturing approach
Be confident supporting pupils with additional needs
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
Be committed to helping children achieve their full potential
Have a genuine passion for working within education and supporting SEN pupilsExperience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Global Developmental Delay or other additional needs would be advantageous.
