Engage Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Manchester. We are looking for confident, resilient and enthusiastic individuals who have experience supporting children and young people with additional needs and challenging behaviour.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils in the classroom and around the school.
Your responsibilities may include:
* Providing 1:1 and small-group support
* Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, autism and behavioural needs
* Helping pupils manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour
* Using Team Teach strategies to support positive behaviour and de-escalation
* Supporting pupils during challenging situations when required
* Helping pupils remain engaged and focused on their learning
* Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
* Supporting individual behaviour plans, learning plans and EHCP targets
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and the wider pastoral team
* Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements
* Valid Team Teach training – essential
* Previous experience working with children or young people
* Experience supporting SEN, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
* A calm, patient and resilient approach
* Confidence in managing challenging situations
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* A genuine passion for supporting young people
