The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Ark Boulton Academy for a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or support worker looking to make a meaningful difference in a young person's educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the student, teaching staff, and SEND team to ensure the pupil receives the support they need to thrive both academically and socially within the school environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide dedicated support to a secondary-aged pupil with additional learning and behavioural needs.
Work closely with teachers and the SEND department to implement tailored support strategies.
Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively in lessons.
Support the student's emotional, social, and academic development.
Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.
Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Experience within a school, care, youth work, residential, or support setting is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs is beneficial.
A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Commitment to supporting the progress and wellbeing of young people.
