Pertemps are recruiting for a confident, organised and experienced Transport Planner to join a busy logistics hub based at East Midlands Gateway (DE74), near Castle Donington and Kegworth. You’ll play a key role in planning and coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring routes are efficient, cost-effective and delivered on time. Working closely with drivers, customers and the wider transport team, you’ll manage schedules, respond to changes and help ensure the smooth running of the depot.

Working hours:
Monday to Friday
0900am – 1730pm OR 1030am – 1900pm OR 1800pm – 0400am
Pay Rates
Day hours ( Administrator level) £13.45.
Day hours (Planner level) £16.00 to £17.35 DOE. 
Night hours (Administrator level) £14.50 to £15 DOE. 
The successful Transport Planner will have:
Basic knowledge of transport legislation (driver hours, vehicle compliance) would be advantageous

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Good geographical knowledge and route planning ability

Strong knowledge of local and regional road networks

Ability to plan efficient and cost-effective routes

Confident dealing with customers, drivers and colleagues

Strong organisational and time-management skills

Ability to adapt quickly to changes and unexpected issues

Previous experience in customer service, logistics or transport is desirable

Your Duties as a Transport Planner:
Plan and organise daily transport routes efficiently and cost-effectively

Allocate drivers and vehicles to planned routes

Ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time

Monitor routes and adjust when required

Deal with customer queries and provide updates on deliveries

Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and transport teams

Use route-planning and transport management systems

Consider traffic, road restrictions and geographical factors when planning routes

Always maintain a high level of customer service

Work to company procedures, transport regulations and health & safety requirements

Provide day-to-day administrative support to the transport team
