This established and growing business based in Southampton is seeking a Finance Assistant to join the team on a temporary basis. Working within a small and friendly team environment, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function across multiple business entities. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking for a varied position within a successful organisation. This is a temporary office-based position with a possibility of becoming a permanent role.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of transactional finance processes. Your duties will include processing financial transactions through Xero, managing accounts payable and receivable activities, allocating customer payments, supporting credit control processes, and carrying out regular bank reconciliations.
You will also assist with financial reporting, including preparing information for management accounts and external auditors, whilst ensuring records remain accurate and up to date. Additionally, you will support the wider finance team and business management with financial data, reporting, and administrative support as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar position. You will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a good understanding of accounting principles. Experience using Xero is highly desirable, alongside strong IT and communication skills. You will be proactive, adaptable, and able to manage your workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
