Learning Support Assistant - Tower Hamlets
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Start Date: 5th October 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: £100-£120 per day
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets is looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to join its team from 5th October.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant who enjoys building strong relationships with pupils and supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
The Role
Working alongside class teachers and the school's wider inclusion team, you will provide targeted support to pupils across the school, helping them engage with learning and develop their confidence and independence.
The role will involve:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support
Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
Helping children access the curriculum through adapted activities
Supporting literacy, numeracy and targeted interventions
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
Supporting pupils' communication, social and emotional development
Helping children develop independence and confidence
Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement support strategies
Creating a calm, positive and inclusive classroom environment
About You
The ideal Learning Support Assistant will be patient, proactive and confident working with children who may require additional support.
Previous experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties or other SEND would be advantageous.
You should be:
Able to build positive relationships quickly
Calm and consistent when managing behaviour
Confident providing one-to-one support
Adaptable to different pupils' needs
A strong communicator and team player
Passionate about helping children make progressThe role could also suit a graduate looking to develop a career in teaching, educational psychology, child development or SEND.
