Firmware Engineer

We're recruiting for an exciting MedTech startup developing innovative technology that aims to transform early disease detection.

They're looking for a hands-on Firmware Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial three-month contract, working closely with scientists to improve the software and firmware that controls laboratory hardware.

The Role

You'll take ownership of an existing Python application, improving reliability, debugging hardware and software issues, adding new features and supporting the scientists who use it every day.

Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain Python applications.

* Work across embedded firmware and hardware interfaces.

* Debug software and hardware communication issues.

* Improve system performance and reliability.

* Develop and execute firmware-level tests.

* Work directly with scientists to deliver new functionality.

Essential Skills

* Python

* Embedded C/C++

* Embedded systems experience

* Serial, USB or similar hardware communication

* Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

* Git

Experience with PyQt, Streamlit, electronics, laboratory instrumentation or TDD would be advantageous.

* £350-£400 per day
