Contract Details

Job Title: Hardware Engineer
Duration: 6 months
Location: Hybrid (2 days per week), West Midlands
Outside IR35
£50-£60 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and validate automotive electronic hardware from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with customer, quality and functional safety requirements.
Produce schematics, perform PCB layout, component selection and circuit simulation for analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronic systems, including ECUs and control modules.
Perform hardware verification, debugging and root cause analysis using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, CAN tools and power analysers, supporting prototype development and design validation.
Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing and test teams for hardware solutions, supporting design reviews, DFMEA activities and product lifecycle development.

Essential Skills

Extensive experience designing electronic hardware within an automotive environment.
Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design, schematic capture, PCB design principles and component selection.
Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN and Automotive Ethernet, alongside hardware debugging and validation.
Knowledge of automotive development standards and processes, including Functional Safety (ISO 26262), EMC compliance and APQP, with excellent technical documentation and communication skills
