Site Engineer - Local Authority Highways Improvement Scheme - Farrington Gurney, Somerset
£350 per day | CIS Umbrella | Initial 4-Month Contract with Strong Scope for Extension
Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the team delivering a local county highways improvement scheme in Farrington Gurney, within the Bath & North East Somerset region.
This is a great opportunity to join a Tier 1 contractor with a confirmed pipeline of 5 further schemes across the Bath/Somerset region next year, offering genuine long-term security well beyond the initial contract.
The Role
Managing all engineering activities including engineering control, setting out, and providing direction to the workforce
Leading quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications
Assisting and managing the permit process, including CAT scanning and issuing permits
Keeping accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations, and as-built information using AutoCAD
Surveying kerb lines and supporting highways construction, surfacing, and minor earthworks activities
Ensuring the highest possible Health, Safety & Environmental standards are employed across all projects, adhering to company policy and actively supporting a strong safety-first culture that's integral to the client's working environment
What You'll Need
Good level of experience in civil engineering and workforce supervision, including earthworks, drainage, structures, and highways
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, QA processes, and site diary/record-keeping
Experience surveying kerb lines and supporting surfacing works
Ability to remain flexible in your approach, embracing and helping to drive change
Highly organised, able to juggle priorities and multi-task across multiple stakeholders while staying focused on what matters most
Ambitious, with a constant focus on improving performance and making the best of every situation
