Role: Product Definition Lead

Location: Motherwell, Scotland, onsite

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Pay: £23.08 - £25.64 per hour, depending on experience

Contract: 12-month contract

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Product Definition Lead to join a dynamic and collaborative product development team on a one-year contract. You will work across instrument, assay and disposable development, helping to define the technical direction of complex point-of-care platforms.

This role is well suited to an experienced technical leader with a strong background in systems engineering, requirements engineering or product definition. You will translate complex business and clinical needs into clear system requirements while guiding a specialist, multidisciplinary team.

The Requirements

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Life Sciences or a related discipline
At least five years' experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering or product definition
Experience within medical devices, diagnostics or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred
Proven leadership and team development experience
Strong understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis and system definition
Ability to translate business, clinical and technical needs into precise requirements
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Comfortable working across global and interdisciplinary teams
Proactive, flexible and able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong technical judgement and the ability to resolve complex issues quickly

The Role

Lead and oversee the product definition of technically complex point-of-care systems
Manage, coach and develop Systems Engineers, Requirements Engineers, Domain Business Analysts and supporting team members
Build a collaborative and high-performing technical team
Translate business and clinical healthcare needs into clear system requirements
Lead requirements engineering, requirements elicitation and requirements evaluation activities
Ensure system requirements are complete, accurate and aligned with wider business objectives
Guide the technical direction of instrument, assay and disposable development programmes
Support engineering teams with the identification, resolution and closure of technical issues
Organise and facilitate project workshops with global and interdisciplinary stakeholders
Apply structured problem-solving methods to critical technical challenges
Align product definition activities with wider programme milestones and strategic goals
Contribute to the successful delivery of complex medical technology development projects
