About this contract

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex industrial infrastructure and automation projects. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key work packages, providing technical expertise across the design, construction and commissioning phases of the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in the development of control systems, electrical power systems and instrumentation solutions, while supporting project delivery within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Deliver EC&I engineering design packages from concept through to construction and commissioning.
Develop technical deliverables including:
Control System Specifications
Shutdown Cause & Effect Matrices
Instrument Datasheets
Technical Requisitions and Procurement Specifications
Review and check engineering documentation including:
Cable Block Diagrams
Cable Routing Drawings
Cable Schedules
Termination Diagrams
Support the design, upgrade and integration of complex control systems.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
Investigate and resolve technical challenges, escalating where required and communicating solutions effectively to stakeholders.
Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and ensure actions are closed out effectively.
Support procurement activities and liaise with suppliers on technical matters.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), commissioning activities and site-based engineering support.
Contribute to LV electrical power system design and integration.
Ensure design activities comply with relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and quality processes.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Minimum 5 years' experience in EC&I engineering, ideally covering design, construction and commissioning activities.
Experience delivering complex control system projects.
Strong knowledge of:
PLC Systems
SCADA Systems
Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
Instrumentation Systems
Industrial Automation
Experience producing and reviewing EC&I design documentation.
Knowledge of control system upgrades, modifications and lifecycle replacement projects.
Construction and commissioning site experience.
Experience participating in FATs, SATs and commissioning activities.
Ability to identify, investigate and resolve technical issues.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as Nuclear, Defence, Energy, Utilities, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Manufacturing or Process Industries would be advantageous
It’s great if you also have the following
Functional Safety experience.
TÜV Functional Safety (SIS) certification.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration.
Experience leading small engineering teams or managing technical work packages
Degree (BEng, MEng or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer status desirable but not essential.
Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution would be advantageous.
