Prospero Teaching are looking for a confident, reliable and supportive SEN Cover Supervisor to join a specialist setting in Swindon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and has experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the usual teacher, delivering prepared work and ensuring pupils remain engaged and supported throughout the lesson. The role will require someone who can establish positive relationships with pupils, maintain a calm and structured environment, and confidently manage behaviour while adapting their approach to individual needs.

Key responsibilities:

Supervising classes and delivering pre-prepared work
Supporting pupils with a range of SEN and additional needs
Managing behaviour positively and consistently
Supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and behavioural needs
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Maintaining a calm, safe and structured learning environment
Encouraging pupils to remain focused and engaged
Adapting support to meet individual pupil needs
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour

Ideal candidate:

Previous experience working with SEN or SEMH pupils is highly desirable
Experience in a school, care, youth work or support setting is beneficial
Confident managing challenging behaviour
Patient, resilient and consistent in their approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Able to take responsibility and work independently
Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
Teaching qualifications are desirable but not essentialThis role would suit experienced Cover Supervisors, SEN TAs, LSAs, support workers, youth workers, graduates or individuals with strong behavioural support experience looking to develop their career within specialist education.
