Python/Django Software Engineer
Location: Remote, with 1 to 2 days a month in London
Rate: £500/day Outside IR35
Duration: 3 months initial

Overview
We're looking for a Python/Django Software Engineer to join a central government programme. You'll build and improve digital services on AWS, working in a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable, secure and user-focused software.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain web applications and APIs in Python and Django
Develop and deploy services on AWS
Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code
Take part in code reviews and help raise engineering standards
Work with product, design and delivery colleagues in an Agile team
Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
Troubleshoot and fix issues across development and live environments
Key Requirements
Strong commercial experience with Python and Django
Hands-on AWS experience covering services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3 or ECS
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
Solid understanding of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
Comfortable working in Agile delivery teams

Previous central government or public sector experience
Knowledge of the GDS Service Standard and (url removed) Design System
Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
