Position Summary
We are seeking an EHS Engineer to support Environmental, Health & Safety activities within a manufacturing environment in Sligo. This role is ideally suited to candidates with a strong engineering background, particularly in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, who are looking to develop or expand their experience within EHS.
While previous EHS experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. The key requirement is a solid engineering foundation combined with strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a regulated manufacturing environment.
This is a fully site-based position, requiring attendance on-site five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Support the implementation and maintenance of Environmental, Health & Safety programmes across the site.
Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to promote a safe and compliant working environment.
Participate in risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety reviews for equipment, processes, and projects.
Support investigations into incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, helping to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Assist with EHS compliance activities to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, environmental performance, and operational excellence.
Support EHS inspections, audits, and monitoring activities.
Review engineering changes and projects to ensure EHS considerations are incorporated into design and implementation.
Assist in developing and delivering EHS training and awareness programmes.
Maintain accurate EHS documentation, procedures, and records.
Essential Requirements
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
Strong engineering experience gained within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical processing, or a similarly regulated industry.
Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Available to work on-site in Sligo five days per week.
Desirable Requirements
Previous Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience.
Knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
Experience supporting capital projects, process improvements, or engineering changes.
Experience within pharmaceutical, medical device, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
