Power BI Developer

Overview We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer on a 3-month contract to help mature and enhance our existing Microsoft Fabric and Power BI reporting platform. Working closely with our business stakeholders, you will review and optimise our current data architecture, improve reporting capabilities, and develop a suite of operational dashboards that provide meaningful insights across the organisation. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse architecture, Power BI, data modelling, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Discovery & Architectural Review * Review our existing Microsoft Fabric and Lakehouse environment. * Assess current data models, semantic models, ETL/dataflows, and reporting architecture. * Identify improvements to performance, scalability, governance, security, and usability. Provide recommendations and best practice guidance for the future development of the platform. Data Integration * Connect and integrate data from the Famly Nursery Management System (NMS) and other business systems. * Design and implement robust data ingestion and transformation processes. * Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across reporting datasets. * Report & Dashboard Development Design and develop key operational reports covering core business processes. * Create intuitive dashboards and visualisations for operational and management teams. * Develop measures, KPIs, and data models to support actionable decision-making. * Ensure reports are performant, secure, and easy to maintain. * Stakeholder Engagement * Work directly with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements. * Translate business needs into technical reporting solutions. * Advise stakeholders on reporting possibilities, limitations, and best practices. * Recommend opportunities for automation, self-service reporting, and enhanced analytics. Training & Knowledge Transfer * Deliver training sessions for end users on viewing, filtering, and using reports effectively. * Support power users in building their own reports and dashboards. * Produce documentation and knowledge transfer materials. * Leave the organisation with a sustainable and well-understood reporting platform. Key Skills & Experience Proven commercial experience developing solutions using Power BI. Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Data Platform technologies. Experience designing and optimising Lakehouse architectures. Experience integrating data from SaaS platforms and APIs. Strong stakeholder management and business analysis skills. Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes within a fixed contract period. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
